Simona Halep hasn’t managed to escape the coronavirus. Anxious about the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Romanian had skipped the first tournament following the Tour’s resumption in August and refused to travel to America for the US Open, still, the virus found its way to the world No.2.

The 29-year-old Halep announced her positive test result on Saturday on Twitter. The two-time Grand Slam champion is self-isolating at home. Luckily, she has mild symptoms and feels fine.

In the period following this year’s coronavirus tennis hiatus, Halep won the Prague Open and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, while at the French Open she lost in the fourth round to eventual champion Iga Swiatek. (photo: Jimmie48)
