Drama ahead of the Australian Open continues. A hotel quarantine worker at the Grand Hyatt, where numerous players are staying, tested positive for COVID-19, leading to suspension of play across all tournaments at Melbourne Park on Thursday. Tennis players from that hotel need to get tested and receive a negative result in order to be allowed to compete.

As many as three tournaments are affected: the Yarra Valley Classic, Gippsland Trophy, and Grampians Trophy. An update on the schedule for Friday will be announced later today.

Tennis Australia released a statement:

Authorities have advised that everyone who stayed at the Grand Hyatt between 16-29 January will need to be tested and isolate until they receive a negative test result.

Tennis Australia will do everything in their power to complete the testing procedures as quickly as possible.
