Main-draw action kicked off at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Monday with two singles matches, while other players continued their preparation for the tournament. Let’s recap the day through the photos of our Jimmie48.
Eighth seed Belinda Bencic eased past 17-year-old German qualifier Nastasja Schunk 6-4 6-2. The world No.928 Schunk was facing her first ever Top 100 opponent in her first ever WTA main draw. Even though the photo doesn’t show the court, you can easily see that they were playing on clay.
Maria Sakkari won 81% of first serve points and converted six out of eight break opportunities to cruise past fellow Adidas representative Andrea Petkovic 6-2 6-2. The 19th-ranked Sakkari was wearing the Adidas Prime Dope Dye Y-Tank and Prime Dope Dye Match Skirt from the new collection that employs sustainable dye technologies that save up to 60% of the water and energy traditionally used.
Petkovic rocked the Adidas Prime Dope Dye Dress, a scarlet piece with contrasting Y-tank straps.
Karolina Pliskova was in good mood with her coach Sascha Bajin.
The world No.9 Pliskova practiced with fellow former Stuttgart champion Laura Siegemund this morning.
Sofia Kenin and Simona Halep also practiced together.
Besides preparation for the tournament, Pliskova found time to play the “Your or Me” game with Julia Goerges.
The Czech also chatted with the media, gave an interview and posed in the selfie booth.
Meanwhile, Anett Kontaveit was painting for charity. It took the Estonian 40 minutes to paint “From Stuttgart with Love”.
Kontaveit’s off-court fun included a lip-reading game with Julia Goerges, press time and posing for our photographer.
Kontaveit was the runner-up at the previous edition of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, in 2019.
The photo of the day has to be this portrait of Aryna Sabalenka.
Top-ranked Ashleigh Barty is awaiting her Stuttgart debut. Today she was all smiles talking to the media.
