The world No.76 Teichmann backed up her third-round upset of Naomi Osaka with a quarterfinal upset of tenth seed Belinda Bencic, ending the Olympic gold medalist’s nine-match winning streak.
Looking at the stats, Teichmann performed better in literally every aspect of the game, especially in the number of saved break points (5/5). The dominance is reflected in a routine score, 6-3 6-2.
This week in Cincinnati, Teichmann recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since March. Moreover, the 24-year-old has replicated the success on hard courts from earlier in the year when she consecutively reached Adelaide and Dubai semifinals.

Later on Friday, Spain’s world No.29 Paula Badosa surged to a 4-0 lead when fifth-seeded Pliskova responded by winning nine of the next ten games. With the Czech leading 7-5 2-0, Badosa retired due to a right shoulder injury.
The other semifinal match in Cincinnati will be played between Ashleigh Barty and Angelique Kerber.
