Sabalenka’s ‘custom’ Nike dress worn by Selekhmeteva in Roland Garros shock

4

In the first round of Roland Garros, world No. 88 Oksana Selekhmeteva turned out to be the first WTA player to wear the new seductive Nike Summer Slam Dress from the Paris collection, even though the design was intended to be exclusively for world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

Facing Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk on Day 1 of the French Open, Selekhmeteva raised eyebrows by taking the grand dress debut from Sabalenka. The dress, which brings the fluid lines of ballet costumes onto tennis courts, was believed to be reserved only for the top seed. At least, that’s what everyone thought.

The moment quickly went viral on X, where fans reacted strongly to the unexpected kit debut. “Nike has to stop making Aryna dirty like that…” one user wrote, while another posted in disbelief: “Why did they give Sabalenka’s ‘custom’ kit to Oksana Selekhmeteva????”

Interestingly, this is not the first time Selekhmeteva has done something like this. It also happened at the 2025 US Open, when she ended up unveiling Sabalenka’s dress during qualifying. I don’t remember the Belarusian complained or commented on it.

  1. Same case with Sharapova dress back in 08 AO and boom Maria debuted in white vers of the dress, nobody wear the same dress and same color as the fashion queen, n thats how she made a statement.
I think Sabalenka deserved her own exclusive non retailed design, non just exclusive color, just like Naomi and Serena.

  2. Well Aryna said last year that “Nike is NOT giving her custom kits for the year”. But she does get custom colors that no other Nike sponsored athlete gets but they are available online for purchase.

  3. Dee, that’s right, and because they are available for purchase, Selekhmeteva simply bought the dress and wore it, she has the right to do so.
