British rising star Emma Raducanu will play a singles exhibition match in November’s Champions Tennis tournament, alongside numerous ATP stars.
The 18-year-old Raducanu made a name for herself with a run to the fourth round of this year’s Wimbledon. This past weekend the world No.150 reached the final of the WTA 125 tournament in Chicago where she lost to Clara Tauson. Following her runner-up finish, Champions Tennis has announced that the British teenager has been added to its star-studded line-up.
The 24th edition of the much-loved ATP Champions Tour event will take place November 25-28 and Raducanu’s exhibition singles match is scheduled for Sunday.
The young WTA star said:
I can’t wait to join these amazing legends of tennis and can’t think of a better way to end the season than playing alongside these players in the city I grew up in and at such an iconic British venue. The support I received at Wimbledon this year was fantastic so to end my year playing in front of home crowds will be so special.
Raducanu will be joined by tennis legends including British favorite Greg Rusedski, fan favourite Mansour Bahrami, Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic, former number one champion Juan Carlos Ferrero, Spaniard David Ferrer, 2006 Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis, and former doubles number four player Radek Stepanek. Other players competing in the tournament include ‘X-Man’ Xavier Malisse, Australian legend Mark Philippoussis, 2010 Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, former top-fiver Thomas Enqvist, former Russian number one Mikhail Youzhny, and German Tommy Haas.
The four-day event has daily afternoon and evening sessions, with three scheduled matches per session; two competitive singles matches and one doubles match. For tennis lovers, the tournament is a fantastic opportunity to watch legends of the game battle it out on the court in the stunning surroundings of Royal Albert Hall – a venue like no other.
