When it comes to the WTA, starting January 2nd players will compete at the WTA 500 Adelaide International 1, while from January 3rd Melbourne will host two WTA 250 events. Moreover, two ITF W60 tournaments will take place between January 2nd and January 9th in Bendigo and Traralgon.

Australian Summer of Tennis Week 2

In the second week of January, from January 9th to January 15th, we’ll have the Sydney Tennis Classic, a combined one-off WTA 500 / ATP 250 event that marks the return of women’s tennis to the New South Wales capital for the first time since 2019. In that same period, the WTA will host the Adelaide International 2, this time a WTA 250 tournament.

The Australian Open qualifying will run from January 10th to January 14th, while main draw Grand Slam action will take place between January 17th and January 30th.

Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley said:

We have worked closely with both the women’s and men’s Tours and would like to particularly thank our government partners across the country who have all been tireless in their efforts to bring the tennis back in 2022. I know it was sorely missed this year, and we are already planning to have a full program of events across the country in 2023.
