The hottest relationship news in the tennis world this month is Garbine Muguruza‘s love match with Arthur Borges, which was made public during the 2021 Akron WTA Finals Guadalajara.
Digging into the biography of Muguruza’s new boyfriend, we’ve learned that he has only recently separated from his wife, a beautiful Finnish figure skater Kiira Korpi. The 33-year-old retired athlete announced their split via an Instagram post in June. Sharing a romantic black-and-white photo from the time she was still with Borges, Korpi said that it was difficult and sad to separate after eleven years spent together.
What’s interesting, Korpi follows Muguruza on Instagram! Muguruza doesn’t follow her back.
Let’s make it clear, it’s not that Korpi follows Muguruza just because the WTA player is a new girlfriend of her former partner. Korpi follows a lot of tennis players: Ashleigh Barty, Madison Keys, Donna Vekic, Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina, Victoria Azarenka, Coco Gauff, Petra Kvitova, Caroline Wozniacki, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu, and the list goes on. She’s apparently a big fan of women’s tennis! When it comes to men, she follows just Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios and Gael Monfils.
Korpi and her then-husband Borges attended the 2019 US Open together. On her Instagram I came across this photo of them in Arthur Ashe Stadium. By the way, on Borges’ Instagram account, you will no longer find any photos with his ex-partner.

Besides being a world-class figure skater, Korpi is no stranger to tennis courts. Her Instagram features several photos of her playing tennis. Mostly those were advertisements for some vitamins, but still.

Yep, but Kiira has been following her for a long time. I don’t think she could suppose, that Muguruza would be her husband’s girlfriend in the future. Now Korpi probably isn’t wanting to show her feelings, so left it like it is.
But what is interesting – Muguruza’s last post liked by Kiira is from November 8th, and on November 18, it became clear Arthur & Mugu are together.

Kat, yes, that’s what I implied by noting that Kiira has always been a tennis fan and follows a lot of tennis players. What an irony that her former partner is now dating a tennis player whom she admires and follows on Instagram. I agree what you said, she doesn’t want to show her feelings, so she hasn’t unfollowed Garbine. She is a classy woman, as I can tell.

this is all fabrication, Garbine is rumored lesbian, seems this is a campaign to dispel the rumor. Futhermore. Arthur is reported or rumored to be gay/bi. Seems is likely that is why he and Kiira divorced. In those same forums, there were mentions of this. I truly believe he is a paid beard for Garbine, and her PR people set up all of this Including this tennis blog and all the bullshit links and so call stories and pics. All to make people believe they are a couple. i think this Arthur dude used Kiira to cover up his true self and rumors are that he got caught too many times with men. I find this more believable than he is dating a tennis pro who looks manly and dated her female physio and never had a boyfriend t speak of. These fools tried to concoct a romance with Mugu and Stan the Man, that fell flat so they got this Beard. Its’ all for show.
