Three years after getting engaged, Australian tennis couple Daria Gavrilova and Luke Saville crowned their decade-long relationship with marriage on Saturday, December 4.
The 27-year-old Gavrilova, born in Moscow, had often mentioned her wedding, and even posted photos from her bachelorette party, so we were well aware that the couple was about to get married this weekend. In anticipation of the wedding, the WTA player changed her Instagram name to “Dasha almost Saville.”

Gavrilova and Saville have been dating since their junior days. The ATP player popped the question on the beach in December 2018, as the now Mrs. Saville explained:
And then I see the box, and he’s like, I’ve got a question to ask, and then he proposed. He didn’t get down on his knee, but he asked. He was like, can I not get down on my knee? I was like, fine. Sure. Because I didn’t want it to be a big thing.
The former Top 20 player Gavrilova spent most of the 2021 on the sidelines. After losing to fellow Australian Ashleigh Barty in the second round of the Australian Open, Gavrilova underwent Achilles tendon surgery and couldn’t compete for most of the year. Only in November did she return to competition, beating Belgium’s Greet Minnen at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
