Belgian Elise Mertens will no longer be coached by her boyfriend Robbe Ceyssens. When it comes to their long-term love relationship, we assume that they are still together.
The WTA world No.21 informed the tennis community on social media:
Robbe and I decided to end our coach-player relationship. It has been an incredible journey together. No words can describe how much we learned from each other.
Since the 26-year-old Mertens emphasized that they only ended their “coach-player relationship”, we can assume that love is still blossoming in their private lives.
Although, the way she ended the message does sound a bit disengaged, given that he is her boyfriend:
I wish Robbe all the best in the future!
As Tennis World USA reports, Mertens’ new coach will be Belgian ATP player David Goffin’s brother, Simon Goffin.
The coaching switch is not the only novelty in Mertens’ life ahead of the 2022 tennis season. The WTA star has also changed her racquet brand, from Head to Babolat.
In the year behind us, Mertens won one singles title, the Gippsland Trophy. In doubles she was more successful, having won three titles, including two Grand Slams (Australian Open with Aryna Sabalenka and Wimbledon with Hsieh Su-Wei).
