Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova enjoyed the perfect tune-up for The Championships as she overpowered fellow Grand Slam winner Jelena Ostapenko to clinch the Eastbourne title. During the trophy ceremony, Jimmie48 took a number of wonderful photos, including the one showing the kiss between the Czech tennis star and her boyfriend and coach Jiri Vanek.
Playing her first final on grass since 2018, the world No.31 Kvitova was in superb form to beat the defending champion Ostapenko 6-3 6-2 at the Rothesay International Eastbourne. The victory comes after persistent injuries physically and mentally drained Kvitova in the 2022 season:
Well I’ve been injured quite a lot so it was tough to practice. It was a rollercoaster and I couldn’t end my injuries. Then I would play one match and I was totally destroyed after it. It’s been pretty difficult with my body actually, and of course with my mind.
Having lots of treatments and seeing doctors, it was really painful sometimes. I didn’t really enjoy playing tennis sometimes, which is not normally the case for me. But I really enjoyed this week.
The 32-year-old Kvitova publicly confirmed her relationship with Vanek in August 2021. Their professional cooperation started in the 2016 off-season, following Vanek’s work with Karolina Pliskova.
In the Eastbourne final, Kvitova wore the yellow version of the Nike Summer Print Slam Dress, from the Paris collection.
Besides coach Jiri Vanek, Kvitova’s team includes PR manager Katie Spellman, agent Marijn Bal, and fitness trainer Ivan Trebaticky.
The 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon champion Kvitova plays Tuesday at the All England Club in a first-round match against Italy’s Jasmine Paolini.
She is one of my favourite players! She’s got the game but is too inconsistent. I would love for her to win Wimbledon or atleast go deep in the tournament.
