The 20th-seeded Anisimova won four games in a row to go from 0-3 to 4-3 in the first set. The 11th-seeded Gauff earned a break to level to 4-all and then won six consecutive points from 4-1 down in the tiebreak to edge the opening set.

In the second set, Anisimova immediately went 2-0 up, and after dropping serve in the third game, the American broke Gauff once again and started to absolutely dominate the set that she emphatically finalized by breaking her opponent without losing a single point. The deciding set was the continuation of Anisimova’s momentum.

The 18-year-old Gauff was trying to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon for the third time in succession, but she’s yet to defeat a seeded opponent in London. Anisimova is enjoyed her deepest run at The Championships.
