“Even good things sometimes come to an end,” Karolina Pliskova started her message as she announced the split from her coach Sascha Bajin.
The former world No.1 Pliskova added Bajin to her team in November 2020, having ended her one-year partnership with coach Daniel Vallverdu. During her 20-month partnership with Bajin, Pliskova reached three finals, including at Wimbledon 2021.
The Czech WTA player wrote on social media on Monday:
I would like to thank Sascha for everything he did for me and my team. It was an incredible time and i learned a lot! Mainly how to be more positive and believe in myself. One of the best coaches out there, good luck my friend.
Besides his work with Pliskova, Bajin’s illustrious career includes an eight-year cooperation with 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams as a hitting partner and he held the same role for two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka. Moreover, he led Naomi Osaka to her first two Grand Slam titles and a number one ranking, but right after the Japanese’s 2019 Australian Open triumph they split. Just before starting working with Dayana Yastremska, Bajin briefly coached Kristina Mladenovic.
