US Open 2022: 44 Americans to compete in the singles main draws

Forty-four Americans (23 women and 21 men) are set to compete in the singles main draws of the 2022 US Open. Aside from the 54 that competed in 2020, a year in which the field was impacted by COVID-19 travel restrictions, 44 is the most since 47 in 2002.

The 23 women mark the eighth consecutive year 20 or more American women have played in the main draw, the first stretch like that since 1998-2005.

The 21 men mark the third consecutive year 20 or more American men have played in the main draw, the first stretch like that since 2001-03.
