Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia posted a surprising tweet that’s revealing her supposed plans to come back to professional tennis in 2023. The Slovak will turn 40 in April and she’s been retired for five and a half years, so her latest post on social media comes as a big surprise. UPDATE: Hantuchova posted in Instagram stories that her Twitter account was hacked. In the end of this article you can read her Instagram message.
It’s not the end of my career 🔜 2023
— Daniela Hantuchová (@dhantuchova) January 15, 2023
Hantuchova turned pro in 1999 and only three years later she beat Martina Hingis in the final of Indian Wells, becoming the lowest-ranked player to win that event. In her successful career, Hantuchova won a total of seven WTA singles titles, including two at Indian Wells and three at Pattaya City, nine doubles titles, and four mixed doubles titles spreading over all four Grand Slams! The successes materialized in her career-high rankings of No.5 in both singles and doubles.
UPDATE: Hantuchova wrote on Instagram that her Twitter account was hacked and that the comeback message wasn’t written by her:
Hey guys, my Twitter account has been hacked and any posts from today onwards are not true. So I am not coming back!
No she didn’t. Look at her IG. She said her Twitter account has been hacked and has no plans on making a comeback.
JP, thank you for your comment. At the moment I posted this article, Hantuchova hadn’t posted this message on Instagram yet. I’ve updated the article. Those hackers are really funny to post that.
