Three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber gave birth to her first child, a baby girl named Liana. Three days after becoming a mom, the German tennis star shared the news with the world.
The 35-year-old Kerber posted on social media a black-and-white photo of her and her partner Franco Bianco holding their newborn’s hand. The former world No.1 WTA player revealed that the baby was born on February 25th and expressed her feelings in the photo caption:
Having you with us is the most beautiful and overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined.
Welcome to our family, Liana *25.02.2023 ❤️????????

Angie told the world about her pregnancy in August 2022, saying that “two against one just isn’t a fair competition” as she announced that she wouldn’t play the US Open, the Grand Slam tournament she won in 2016.
The winner of 14 singles titles will definitely continue her sports career, as she told the WTA in November:
We see the moms can come back, also winning big titles. And I hope I can also be one of them, inspiration for new moms and women to come back to doing their business.
The German’s return is expected in 2023, but the exact timing is not certain yet, as it depends on the period it will take her to recover and get her fitness back. The last match Kerber played was in the third round of Wimbledon 2022 against Elise Mertens.
