Ajla Tomljanovic made a triumphant return to tennis at the US Open and made sure her on-court fashion matched the big occasion. Join us as we take a closer look at the stunning Original Penguin outfit donned by the Australian player in Flushing Meadows.
Playing her first match in the 2023 season after a nine-month struggle with a knee injury, Tomljanovic made a long-awaited comeback and she did so in style. Battling past Hungarian Panna Udvardy in the first round, Tomljanovic made a fashion statement in a long-sleeved crop top and colorblock skirt by her clothing sponsor Original Penguin.
The Penguin Women’s Fall Crop Long Sleeve in nautical blue features a high-cut neckline, yellow piping accents, raglan sleeves, and a fashionable shorter length. The Penguin Women’s Fall Asymmetrical Colorblock Skirt completes the ensemble with contrast sections in the front that curve down the left side and create two pleats.
Tomljanovic’s tennis shoe of choice is the Wilson Kaos Rapide SFT.
Before Monday night’s match in New York, Tomljanovic last competed in the Billie Jean King Cup finals in November. In January she had a knee surgery. She hoped to be ready to play Roland Garros, but was forced to prolong her recovery. Interestingly, while being on the sidelines, she reached a career-high ranking of No.32 in April. Now she’s ranked No.137 in singles.
The 30-year-old Tomljanovic is set to face last year’s Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the second round of the US Open.
