World No.18 Beatriz Haddad Maia experienced a scary accident in Mexico, leading to her withdrawal from the Guadalajara Open AKRON‘s opening match against Danielle Collins. As the Brazilian tennis player was leaving her hotel shower, the glass door suddenly shattered, resulting in multiple injuries.
On Sunday night, the 27-year-old Haddad Maia suffered an accident while taking a shower, showing her injured hands in an Instagram post. Due to a glass shower door falling on her, the Brazilian had to get stitches in both her hands, therefore being unable to play the Guadalajara tournament. Fortunately, besides the major scare, the wounds are not serious and the WTA player expects to continue her 2023 season in the near future.
