Second seed Aryna Sabalenka powered past seed No.22 Emma Navarro 6-2 6-3 to move into the quarterfinals of Roland Garros 2024.

Aryna Sabalenka

Last year’s Roland Garros semifinalist Sabalenka started ruthlessly, giving her opponent no chances. The Belarusian quickly earned a 40-0 lead with three winners on Navarro’s serve in the opening game, breaking at love when Navarro made an error. In just five minutes, Sabalenka led 2-0, with six of the eight points she won being winners. Her dominance continued to 4-0, and by the end of the set, Navarro managed to win just two games. In the second set, Sabalenka took a 3-1 lead and broke Navarro one final time in the last game to secure a confident victory, never facing a break point throughout.

Sabalenka’s quarterfinal opponent will be Mirra Andreeva, who defeated Varvara Gracheva 7-5 6-2 in the last fourth-round match in women’s singles. The other three quarterfinal pairs are as follows: Iga Swiatek vs. Marketa Vondrousova, Coco Gauff vs. Ons Jabeur, and Elena Rybakina vs. Jasmine Paolini.
