World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is currently navigating a turbulent period in her career, but has provided few details about the challenges she’s facing. Initially expected to return at the Wuhan Open after withdrawing from Beijing for mysterious personal reasons, Swiatek has now decided to skip Wuhan as well. In addition to her absence from the court, she has made a significant move by ending her partnership with long-time coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.
Under Wiktorowski’s guidance, Swiatek achieved extraordinary success, winning four of her five Grand Slam titles and ascending to the top of the WTA rankings. Together, they orchestrated the longest winning streak on the WTA Tour in the 21st century, with Swiatek claiming 37 consecutive victories in 2022. During their time together, Swiatek also captured 19 of her 22 career titles and earned an Olympic bronze medal in Paris.
Swiatek announced the split with Wiktorowski in a social media post, describing the decision as mutual and amicable. She expressed deep gratitude to her entire support team, including fitness coach Maciej Ryszczuk and psychologist Daria Abramowicz.
“Coach, THANK YOU, I wish you all the best,” Swiatek wrote. “I know that you would like to rest after these 3 years of hard work and traveling a lot and spend some well deserved time with your loved ones and I hope you’ll get what you need.”
Swiatek also confirmed that she is in the process of hiring a new coach and has begun talks with several candidates. “Due to this important change in my team, I’m giving myself a few weeks to start a collaboration with a new coach,” she wrote. “I’m in the middle of first talks with coaches from abroad (non-Polish), because I’m ready to take the next step in my career.”
As Swiatek embarks on this new phase, fans are left wondering how the changes will shape the next chapter of her career.
