In an interview with Anna Chakvetadze, Anna Kalinskaya made a startling revelation: Danish ATP star Holger Rune has been persistently messaging WTA players, admitting that he even wrote to her ten times before finally giving up.

When asked if male players often invite her on dates, Kalinskaya explained that it happened more frequently when she was younger, adding that some of them know they have no chance. “Someone wrote like 10 times and then gave up,” the Russian said with a laugh. Pressed by Chakvetadze to reveal the identity of the “desperate” player, Kalinskaya didn’t hold back: “Holger Rune. He writes to everyone. He deserves all this. Thinks too much of himself.” She added, however, that Rune is not the only man on tour who behaves this way.
The 22-year-old Rune quickly fired back on X, denying her claims. “Ha ha ha. We might have cultural differences that make Anna read a comment on a story as an invitation to a date. If I want to go on a date, I ask for a date. Don’t worry,” the winner of five ATP titles wrote.

People will decide whom to believe, but the fact that Veronika Kudermetova also mentioned his hookup attempts doesn’t speak in his favor. In an interview with Elena Vesnina, Kudermetova—married to Sergei Demekhine—said she too had been approached by Rune, expressing shock that he would disregard her marriage.
The 26-year-old Kalinskaya herself is no stranger to dating ATP players. She was famously in a brief relationship with Nick Kyrgios in 2020, and later was in a high-profile romance with Jannik Sinner from 2024 until early 2025.
