The fourteen-time Grand Slam doubles champion Williams and rising Filipina star Eala have already played doubles together, in June at the WTA 500 Bad Homburg Open in Germany. They won their debut match against Alexandra Osborne and Catherine Harrison before exiting in the quarterfinals.

Reigning Olympic doubles gold medalist and six-time Grand Slam doubles champion Sara Errani has teamed up with doubles specialist Nicole Melichar-Martinez. The pair enters the tournament as the top seeds after recently reaching the Berlin Open final together.

The field also features former Washington doubles champion Erin Routliffe, who lifted the trophy in 2022, and defending champion Zhang Shuai, who won the doubles title with Taylor Townsend in 2025.
