Michaella Krajicek, the retired Dutch tennis player, is preparing to welcome her second child with her partner Jelle Sels. The couple already has a son named Valentijn Leo Sels, who was born in August 2021. Michaella recently shared photos from their family trip to Italy, where they enjoyed some quality time together before the arrival of the new baby.

In an Instagram post, Michaella wrote, “Possibly our last (tournament) trip as a ‘family of three.’ Time to prepare for our newest member.” The post featured several sweet moments from their trip, including pictures of the couple and their son sightseeing in Rome, walking past the Colosseum, Vittoriano, and other famous landmarks, and enjoying the scenic views of Italy.

Michaella also shared the gender of their upcoming baby in a previous Instagram post, revealing that they will be welcoming another baby boy into their family, most probably in June. “Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true,” the 34-year-old wrote.

Michaella, who is the half-sister of former world No.4 and Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2007 and achieved a career-high singles ranking of No.30 in February 2008. However, injuries and surgeries have prevented her from having a long professional tennis career. In January 2019 she entered an ITF tournament in Hong Kong, which was her last competition in singles, while her last appearance in doubles was at an ITF tournament in Tunisia in February 2020.

Michaella’s parter Jelle Sels is a fellow Dutch tennis player. The 27-year-old mostly competes in the Challenger tour circuit. His career-high singles ranking was No.127, achieved in November 2022, while his current position is No.171. Jelle achieved a major career milestone in October 2022, winning his first ATP Challenger singles title at the 2022 Internationaux de Tennis de Vendée held in Mouilleron-le-Captif, France.
