Jelena Jankovic lost to Dominika Cibulkova in the quarterfinals of this week’s Rogers Cup in Montreal and we said that she spoilt another chance of taking over the No.1 ranking from fellow Serb Ana Ivanovic as Jankovic had to reach the Rogers Cup finals in order to achieve the feat. But she will finally become new world No.1 on August 11.

Jankovic will after all end Ivanovic’s nine-week reign as there will be no tournaments played next week ahead of the Beijing Olympics, and the WTA governing body’s computer will drop the points from the events played in the same week one year ago.

Jankovic is projected to have 3,620 points on August and Ivanovic will have just eight points less.

“Since I was a young girl it has been my dream to become number one in the world,” said the 23-year-old Jankovic who will become the 18th player to hold the top ranking.

“When you get older at least one day you can say you were number one and no one can take that away from you.”

Congrats JJ! However, you still need to win a Grand Slam to feel complete, and you feel that too.
