Ana Ivanovic, who suffured a major slump in the rankings on Monday, falling from No.8 to No.13 after exiting the French Open in the fourth round as a defending champion, is scheduled to play doubles at the AEGON International.
The 21-year-old has been offered a wildcard into the Eastbourne doubles draw, and will be partnered with Germany’s Sabine Lisicki, ranked 180th in doubles.
Ivanovic hasn’t played a single doubles match on the Tour since last year, during which she played only one, and is currently unranked in doubles. Her career-high doubles ranking was No.50, in Septermber 2006, after having played several tournaments alongside Russian Maria Kirilenko.

Caroline Wozniacki said on via her blog that Ana was interested in playing doubles with her but she declined the offer. So I guess she found a new doubles partner already.
It’s a smart decision for her to play doubles if she wants to go far at Wimbledon. Is she playing singles too though?
From what I read on Ivanovic’s official website is that she fired her coach Craig Kardon. I guess she finally followed my advise.
Teerin, I went to Wozniacki’s official site, the last post on her blog was Charleston Final. I’m curious where did you get this information?
Here is the link to her blog:

I know her blog is in Danish but here is the translated version on the paragraph about playing doubles with Ana Ivanovic:
“I travel to Eastbourne, England on Wednesday where I will make myself clear on the grass! Sven Groeneveld called me and said that Ana Ivanovic would like to play double with me in Eastbourne, but we listened to Peter Bastian’s tips for saving me in the doubles.”
Or something like that, I translated it on Google translate so some words might be incorrect or misplaced. 😛
Thanks Teerin, this was the same blog that said Wozniacki had dinner with Verdasco and his family, while she was in Madrid. I have doubts about this blog.
Carlos, but you don’t have doubts about my blog. 🙂
Ms. Marija you have a credible blog I don’t doubt it for a second, after all you have the best blog on the web. 😛
ThAnK yOu! 😀 I hope it’ll stay like that.
With you at the helm no question that it will. 🙂
I think doubles would be a great decision for CW…She definitely has the overall superior skill-set to make the same immediate affect on the international tennis landscape…
Watching her beat Elena Dementieva (who she defeated as a neophtye back in 2004) in the Family Circle Cup semis, it occured to me how good she could be…Sky’s the limit!
women players are making waves on the Beach Tennis USA circuit, with national power Nadia Johnson preparing for the BTUSA National Championship in Long Beach, N.Y. It’s the tail end of the Beach Tennis USA 2009 National Tour it should be a great match….
