For Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson, 28, the Memphis International has long been her dream tournament, but now winning her second career title there by beating Marina Erakovic 6-3 6-4 in the final, Arvidsson only added to her success in Memphis, making it the tournament where she has won twice as many matches than at any other event, with 18 match wins.

The first time Arvidsson clinched a WTA title was in Memphis in 2006, in the final against Marta Domachovska. It’s interesting that Arvidsson also defeated Caroline Wozniacki on the way, but the Dane’s ranking was 9999 then. In 2010 Arvidsson reached the final of Memphis, but lost it to Maria Sharapova.
