In mid-July Karolina Sprem crowned her two-year relationship with fellow tennis player Marcos Baghdatis with marriage and the couple has now welcomed a baby girl in their family. Karolina gave birth to little Zahara on October 20 in Zagreb, Croatia, while her husband was playing a semifinal in Stockholm. The delivery was a week premature, so Marcos didn’t even know his wife was in labor.
The former Top 20 WTA player shared her experience on the WTA Tour’s website:
Oh and the day Zahara was born, because we didn’t think she would be coming so soon, Marcos was actually playing a tournament that day – he had his semifinal at 12:00. He knew I had an appointment in Zagreb with my doctor, but I didn’t tell him I was having contractions and that I had to stay in the hospital. The last time we talked was at 11:30am by SMS and I told him everything was okay – so when he finished his match, I was coming out of the operating room!!!
Zahara Baghdatis weighed 2.960 g and was 50 cm long. Congratulations to the new parents on their little bundle of joy!
