Just days after our reader Anastasia suggested a WTA Players and their Boyfriends/Husbands series, we already have a good reason to launch it – two years into their relationship, women’s tennis player Karolina Sprem and ATP star Marcos Baghdatis decided to tie the knot this weekend in the bride’s native Croatia.
In a splendid setting of a Trakoscan Castle, the 27-year-olds married in a small chapel next to the castle, while during the wedding they were changing sites in a carriage, using umbrellas to hide from the paparazzi.
The bride looked beautiful in a pearl-adorned wedding dress, wearing her hair down with romantic curls accessorized by a pearl headband.
It’s amazing how undercover this relationship was, even though they are both tennis players, isn’t it? Think of Wozzilroy!
UPDATE: The latest news I’ve received is that Karolina Sprem is pregnant! (photos: © Neal Trousdale)
What a beautiful castle! Beautiful pictures. Best wishes to the couple.
Such beautiful images and that castle…awesome. Thank you for sharing. I am very surprised myself!
Nice couple and great pics! 🙂
Nice scenery. A fairytale wedding 🙂
Consider the possibility of not limiting this feature to heterosexual couples. I know there aren’t that many “out” players active on the WTA tour, but if we could treat all individuals–and value their commitments–equally, that would be a step in the right direction.
Ana, I will take that into consideration, why not. It didn’t even cross my mind! Thanks for the suggestion.
Having seen both Karolina and Marcos at the Olympic Tennis yesterday I can confirm that she is most definitely pregnant….by quite a few months I would say.
Congrats to Karolina and Marco, best wishes for a happy and successful marriage and if the talk is correct a healthy baby.
And here it is, little Zahara is born: https://womenstennisblog.com/2012/11/28/karolina-sprem-shares-baby-zahara-pics-and-experience-of-giving-birth/
