Seed No.1 Agnieszka Radwanska fell at the first hurdle at the Aegon International in Eastbourne, but she shouldn’t despair, as last year she also had such a short grasscourt tournament preparation for Wimbledon and she ended up in the finals of the the Championships.

Last year the Pole lost in the first round of Eastbourne to Tsvetana Pironkova, while today her conqueror was Jamie Hampton, the American qualifier who crowed the claycourt season with a fourth-round finish at Roland Garros. Radwanska lost 7-6(2) 6-2 and it is the ninth time in the past 15 years the top seed said goodbye in their opening match at the tournament.
