Nike is clothing our Top 4 WTA stars, two of which have already clinched titles in the first week of January. I have shown you the Nike clothes that Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams will wear at the 2014 Australian Open, but now that more than two weeks have passed since then, I have more information about the outfits, plus, thanks to Tennis Identity, I have information about what Victoria Azarenka and Li Na will work in Melbourne.
Here’s how Maria looks in her new kit, the surprising combination of a tunic and shorts, officially called Nike Women’s Spring Premier Maria Tunic Dress. The color of the tunic is called “glacier ice”. The more I look at it, the more I admire Maria for the fashion risks she takes. I’m sure this one will turn out to be a hit! Her shoes will be a NikeID version of the Zoom Vapor 9 Tour.
Of the three kinds of the Nike Women’s Spring 1 Serena OZ Open Dress, Williams will most probably wear the pink one. It will sure look good on her, as it is a safe choice, simply the continuation of her similar styles from last year.
Victoria Azarenka will try to defend her title in the above Nike Women’s Spring 1 Advantage Print Tank, a matching Pleated Woven Skort and the new Lunar Ballistec shoes. Nice combo, again something we’re used to seeing Vika in – lively and sporty separates.
Last year’s Australian Open runner-up Li Na will also stay true to her favorite type of outfit – a V-neck cap sleeve top and a skirt, this time in magenta.
What do you think of the 2014 Australian Open Nike apparel? My favorite outfit is Masha’s, for the novelty it brings.
Maria is actually my favorite by far in this line up. I like the different look and I’m sure she will pull it off because a) its a great look (for me) b) its different and different is refreshing c) its Maria; she looks great in most things. But I really want Vika to rock some shorts again! Li’s outfit is nothing new but her style is simple and clean. And Serena who is usually my favorite… I’m sure it’ll look great, but this looks pretty boring to me. Her outfits are becoming too uniform for me. Maybe it’ll surprise me though in action.
Zech, I agree that Serena could introduce something new to spice things up a bit. She’s been wearing the same designs for so long.
