The four contenders for the WTA Finals in Singapore continue to deliver a flawless performance at the 2016 Generali Ladies Linz as the tournament’s quarterfinals have been set.
Three players that are still in contention to qualify for the WTA’s big season-end event in South-East Asia have continued their flawless run in Linz on Thursday, winning their matches in straight sets.
The day of domination by the top seeds started with Madison Keys sweeping by Japanese Misaki Doi in less than an hour. The young American’s odds to qualify for the finals are nearing certainty now.
Keys’ dominant performance was followed up by a comprehensive straight-set win from Dominika Cibulkova, who raced past Annika Beck. The final match of the day ended in similar fashion as Monica Niculescu proved to be rather helpless against top seed Garbine Muguruza.
Adding Carla Suarez Navarro who had already won her round-two match on Wednesday, all top seeds remain in the tournament as the Generali Ladies Linz heads into the deciding stages. The quarterfinal lineup is rounded out by the 2015 champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who beat Kirsten Flipkens to make another deep Linz run.
