The one and only Serena Williams hasn’t played any tournaments since winning a record 23rd Grand Slam title at the 2017 Australian Open in January (while being pregnant!), yet today she again dethroned Angelique Kerber from the top of the WTA rankings, claiming the No.1 position together with her unborn baby. To make the situation even more amazing, today is the 34th birthday of Serena’s fiancé Alexis Ohanian. Celebrating the joyous moments, Serena posted this photo on Instagram and sent a touching message to her little baby:
My Dearest Baby,
You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year. But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you…. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. ? from the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one.
-Your Mommy
As we can see from the message, Serena doesn’t plan to retire! Rather, she’s already thinking about getting back to the courts next year! I don’t doubt she’ll manage to add a few more Grand Slam titles to her résumé.
What a wonderful message. Motherhood will really change Serena for sure. She’ll break more records will write her name once again in history as a mother. Maybe go for 24th GS title as a mother? That would be cool.
Emman Damian, I can totally see Serena winning her 24th GS as a mother!
Yeah, she is a great champion.
