Former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka, wearing the Nike Fall Pure Dress and playing only her second tournament as a mom, reached the third round of Wimbledon with a 6-3 6-3 victory over 15th seed Elena Vesnina on Court No.3. The 2011 and 2012 semifinalist Azarenka, currently ranked 683rd due to the maternity absence, never dropped serve during the second-round match, hitting 8 aces to her opponent’s zero and recording a +13 winners-to-unforced-errors differential compared to Vesnina’s -2. The 2016 Wimbledon semifinalist Vesnina needed a medical timeout for a hip injury in the second set, but was able to finish the match.

Azarenka’s next opponent will be British Heather Watson, who made good use of her wildcard by wrapping up a quick 6-0 6-4 win over seed No.18 Anastasija Sevastova. Fresh off her semifinal run at the Aegon International Eastbourne, Watson continued her successful grasscourt season by storming past Mallorca champion Sevastova, without making a single unforced error in the first set, and earning career-best Wimbledon singles win.

  1. I’m really sensing that Vika will make most of the draw. She’ll go far in Singles. She’s playing mixed doubles too with Nenad Zimonjic (one of my fave doubles player in ATP).

  2. Emman Damian, oh wow, I didn’t even know that. Thanks for the info. He’s a very nice guy.

  3. Vika is looking strong. Hope she does very well here.
Why does Nike give her the plainest, most bring kits to wear? They did this even when she was #1.

  4. Sabey, she looks good in this dress, but yes, it’s much more plain than Serena’s, Maria’s and even Kvitova’s dresses. Although, she’s a more sporty type when it comes to fashion.
