Caroline Garcia, the first unseeded China Open finalist since the tournament was granted Premier Mandatory status in 2009, impressively defeated second seed and tomorrow-to-be-number-one Simona Halep to win her second consecutive title in China, having clinched the Wuhan Open title last week.
In doubles, top seeds Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-Jan won their ninth title of the season with a 6-1 6-4 victory over fourth seeds Timea Babos and Andrea Hlavackova.
Our photographer Jimmie48 made sure to get both matches covered, while now he’s rushing to the Tianjin Open, where Beijing champion Garcia is set to play Maria Sharapova in the opening round.
