At the 2018 BNP Paribas Open, all eyes will be on Serena Williams as she’ll play her first WTA match after giving birth to daughter Alexis Olympia and the American has a powerful Nike outfit to match the big occasion in her career.

Using Instagram to invite people to wear her gold-toned “S” pin as a support for her charity which supports the Yetunde Price Resource, Serena gave us a sneak peek at her new black sleeveless dress. The top section is similar to a number of Serena’s 2016 designs, most notably her Wimbledon dress and its recognizable half turtleneck. High necks have proven to be the best silhouette for the American. Armsleeves – another staple from 2016, introduced at the US Open that year, is continuing its dominance.

The new dress features geometrically textured insets at armholes and chest. The chest one in the shape of sharp V that gives a hint of a V-neck, which traditionally perfectly fits Serena’s physique. The gold-colored Swoosh at the neck is a sophisticated detail that gives just the right amount of contrast.

Serena kicks off her Indian Wells campaign on Thursday, March 8th, facing Zarina Diyas in the first round. She’s in the bottom half of the draw, in the same quarter as her sister Venus, so we’re having a potential all-Williams third-round clash.

The tennis legend just wants to enjoy her comeback and doesn’t have unrealistic expectations. In a recent interview for BBC she said:

It’s been really, really difficult but I keep going and I know that I might not be at my best yet, but I’m getting there and every day is a new day and every day I should be getting better. As long as I’m moving forward, even if it’s at a turtle’s pace, then I’m OK with that.
