Miami Open PHOTOS: First round kicks off, Anisimova keeps shining

After covering the BNP Paribas Open, my photographer Jimmie48 is already in Miami, readily bringing us photos from Tuesday’s final round of qualifying and first-round action, most notably the continued rise of 16-year-old American Amanda Anisimova, who backed up her Indian Wells success with a 6-3 1-6 6-2 first-round win over China’s Wang Qiang, who is also coming off of a career-best fourth-round result at Indian Wells.

We also have coverage of Johanna Larsson‘s three-set win over Katerina SiniakovaAliaksandra Sasnovich‘s triumph over Kristyna Pliskova, Maria Sakkari‘s continued form in the sunshine swing, her most recent victim being Aleksandra Krunic, and Timea Babos‘ victory over Mona Barthel.

Moreover, Jimmie48 visited Daria Kasatkina‘s afternoon practice session. The Russian and her coach Phillippe Dehaes went high-tech, using noticeably different tools and techniques than other players.

Keep checking back to Women’s Tennis Blog for more photos from the Miami Open, the last time the tournament is being held at Crandon Park, as the 2019 edition will move to Hard Rock Stadium.
