Unseeded Kiki Bertens enjoyed a surprisingly routine 6-2 6-2 victory over seventh seed Caroline Garcia to reach the biggest final of her career at the Mutua Madrid Open, while tenth seed Petra Kvitova emerged as the winner in the second semifinal on Friday’s schedule, beating fellow Czech and sixth seed Karolina Pliskova 7-6(4) 6-3 in a clash of two players who were both on nine-match winning streaks.
