Life goes on, and in Serena Williams‘ case, moving forward has to happen quickly. Just three days after losing the final of the US Open to teenager Bianca Andreescu, the 23-time Grand Slam champion picked up the pieces, transitioned from the court to the runway and continued to build her empire, this time by presenting the latest collection of her fashion label, S by Serena Williams at New York Fashion Week.

Williams’ first runway show as an independent designer attracted a number of celebrities — from her WTA colleagues Caroline Wozniacki and Marion Bartoli, to Kim Kardashian West, TV host Gayle King and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Emphasizing diversity, models of different sizes and nationalities walked the runway. The show opened with a brown faux suede maxi coat, followed by a suit in the same fabric with a midi-length wrap skirt.

This is a celebration. This is for women who turn doubt into confidence and fear into courage.

The fall collection looks also feature a series of dresses, tops and coats, including a neon trench coat, plants and slouchy sweaters, animal-print items, black velvet striped leggings. and an ombre sequin jumpsuit.

For the traditional postshow bow, Serena brought along her daughter Olympia, who turned two this month. The tennis-legend-turned-fashion-designer wore a black lace top and a snakeskin miniskirt, pairing them with black sneakers.

The S by Serena runway collection is available for purchase on serenawilliams.com.
