Now that both Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger have retired, the couple has decided to settle far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, in Westendorf, Tyrol, Austria.

Situated high up on a sunny plateau with breathtaking views from the surrounding mountains, Westendorf, with the population of just 3,562 inhabitants, is a popular tourist destination in both summer and winter, as a ski resort and for walking-tours. The popular sports couple picked a healthy environment to raise their two sons, Luka and Leon.

Serbian tennis star Ivanovic started building her family nest in Chicago in 2017, where her German-soccer-star husband played, but now that he’s also retired, they decided to build a luxury villa in Westendorf. As Serbian news source Informer reports, the couple will finish the construction process by the end of the year and are expected to move in during 2020.

The Mayor of Westendorf, Annemarie Plieseis, confirmed that Schweinsteiger bought a property in her little town in July 2018. Ana and Basti chose the location because Basti’s parents live nearby (Basti was born and raised in Kolbermoor, Germany, which is just an hour’s drive from Westendorf). They opted out of Ana’s hometown of Belgrade, Serbia, as the former WTA world No.1 is too much of a celebrity there and they want to live a peaceful life.

  1. I love seeing all these happy families within the wider tennis family! And what a lovely home they must be building! I’m so jealous…I hope they release photos of the house someday cause I’d love to see it!

  2. What? You mean they are not interested in living in the quiet…peaceful…serene gangster town of Chicago? I am sure they will miss the drive-by shootings vey much lol
