Caroline Wozniacki is spicing up the conclusion of her illustrious career by announcing a doubles pairing with Serena Williams at the ASB Classic in Auckland which starts January 6th.

The 29-year-old Wozniacki will play just two more tournaments before she retires, the ASB Classic and the Australian Open, but fans in Auckland will receive a special treat as there she will play doubles with tennis legend Williams for the first time ever, even though they’ve been good friends for years.

Wozniacki hasn’t played doubles since 2016 (her career-high doubles ranking is No.52, which she reached way back in 2009), while Williams, the winner of 23 women’s doubles and two mixed doubles titles, hasn’t played a WTA doubles match with anyone other than her sister Venus since 2002.

The news comes two weeks after Wozniacki announced that her final match will be an exhibition with Williams in her home country of Denmark in May 2020.
