Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki was supposed to play her final match against good friend Serena Williams on May 18th, but the exhibition dubbed “The Final One” will be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic which has caused sports events to be canceled indefinitely worldwide.
The former world No.1 Wozniacki finished her WTA career at the 2020 Australian Open, but she wanted to treat her home crowd in Copenhagen with one final high-profile match. Coronavirus had other plans.
The sold-out event will take place at a later date and tickets already purchased will still be valid. Once the new date is picked, Wozniacki will let everyone know.
“The safety and health of everyone is most important!” Wozniacki said on Twitter.
