New tennis collections are few and far between during this coronavirus shutdown, but Venus Williams‘ EleVen, one of the most prolific clothing brands in the tennis industry, has launched the Geometric range, initially intended for the 2020 claycourt season, so the release date has been pushed back a little bit.
The promotion of the Geometric collection started with this photo of Venus wearing the Challenge Dress, featuring printed side colorblocks, contrasting trim and a pleated skirt. The five-time Wimbledon champion proudly states that her new line is full of perforated mesh, so that players don’t overheat during matches. When it comes to color palette, the clothes are in black and white, alongside pops of powder pink and blue mist.
All Venus’ collections are heavily defined by prints, but if you prefer simpler looks, there is always a wide variety of ensembles that you can make from solid tops and skirts. For example, the above two photos show the True Love Tank and Flutter Skirt in bi-color combinations, with generous, contrasting use of mesh.
On top of mesh, ventilation is provided by back openings, such as this ellipse one in the Connect Short Sleeve Top.
Besides a dramatic perforated inset on the back, the Tangle Long Sleeve, available in geometric print and blue mist, has side ties that you can control and thumb holes to keep your sleeves in place.
The Geometric collection is available at EleVen’s official website, while previous collections, some of them at a discounted price, can also be found at Tennis Warehouse USA and Tennis Warehouse Europe.
Do we know if Venus still plans on wearing an outfit from this range at the French Open this year, considering it was launched so long ago?
John Aghahowa, I don’t think she’ll wear this collection (it was intended for the claycourt season before coronavirus hit the world), she’ll either wear her US Open designs or introduce something new. I’ve contacted EleVen and I’m still waiting for their response.
