Twenty-four-year-old Taylor Townsend is about to become a mom! The American announced the exciting news on social media today, as part of an emotional video that recaps her career and all the obstacles she’s faced.
The WTA player added “mom-to-be” to her Instagram bio and captioned the video with the following message:
Life has a funny way of putting you exactly where you are supposed to be. I’m so excited to embark on the journey of motherhood!! #babytownsend2021
The baby is due in March 2021.
A lot of Townsend’s WTA colleagues congratulated her in the comments section, including Alison Riske, Julia Goerges, Kim Clijsters, Shelby Rogers, Eugenie Bouchard, Daria Gavrilova, Vera Zvonareva, etc. Madison Keys offered to help her pick things for the nursery, while Bianca Andreescu said she got goosebumps hearing the announcement.
Townsend is currently ranked No.90 (her career-high in singles is No.61). The last tournament she played was the 2020 US Open where she lost in the first round to compatriot Sachia Vickery.
