Belgian Yanina Wickmayer and her husband Jerome van der Zijl are expecting their first child. The five-time WTA singles titlist informed her fans on social media that the baby is expected to arrive in April 2021.

Yanina lost her mom when she was just nine years old and that tragic event made her dream about becoming a mother one day. Tennis career has always been Yanina’s top priority, but the 31-year-old says that it became harder and harder to put off her motherhood and dream of starting her own family.

As far as things are now, Yanina plans to come back to tennis as soon as possible. She emphasized that this is not a goodbye.

Yanina crowned her long-term relationship with marriage in July 2017. Her colleagues Kristina Mladenovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Kim Clijsters attended the wedding ceremony. Her husband is a former professional football player.
