Iga Swiatek gets perfect Tecnifibre racquet for Roland Garros title defense

Iga Swiatek heads to her first ever Grand Slam title defense equipped with a tennis racquet designed specifically for her. Tecnifibre T-Rebound 298 IGA is the result of a collaborative approach and sharing of experience between the Tecnifibre teams and the 2020 Roland Garros champion.

The 19-year-old Swiatek used to have a hard time finding a proper racquet for her game, as she preferred softer racquets that were scarce on the market. Now the Pole is happy that Tecnifibre built a racquet that suits her perfectly: it offers softness in combination with controllable power, helps spin the ball really fast, and overall gives many options. The frame features Swiatek’s signature.

Swiatek is absolutely confident in her new racquet:

It’s important not to have any doubts in the back of your head and to just be comfortable and safe that in tough moments the racquet is gonna help you.

When it comes to clothes and shoes, Asics-sponsored Swiatek will wear the Spring Match Graphic Tank, Spring Match Skirt and Gel Resolution 8 Clay Shoes at the upcoming French Open.

The teenager is seeded eighth in Paris. Her first-round opponent will be Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan.

  1. Well my dream of a Swiatek-Barty Final is over (Last 2 Champs) as they are on the same side of the draw (they would meet in Semifinals). BTW How does Zvonareva get passed over for lucky loser by Gorotsova and Cocciaretto? Wasn’t she the highest seed left in the final round of qualies who lost???

  2. Mariya, before 2018 it did go by ranking (I found an ITF article about the change). You are correct, but they do initially draw from the top 4 ranked “losers” in the final qualifying round. In this case those four were Zvonareva, Cocciaretto, Gorotsova, and Dart. Then after that if any more players drop out of the main draw, they pick lucky losers by ranking.
