Holding her son Adyn during an Instagram live chat with her good friend, Taylor Townsend announced that she was back training really hard and preparing to end her maternity leave.
Townsend is enjoying motherhood and everything has been going really well. Now that her baby is four months old, the 25-year-old has officially started preparing for tournaments. She expects her competitive comeback to happen sometime between March and May 2022. Even though she feels like she has never left the WTA Tour, her body constantly feels sore and tired from intense training.
During her time away from tennis courts, Townsend has been working on some exciting projects that she’ll reveal in the next couple of weeks. What we do know is that she’s collaborating with a couple of companies and preparing some product launches. The American is excited to expand her résumé outside of being a tennis player and a baby mama.
Townsend is now making a plan for her comeback. One thing is certain, she will play as many matches as she can, in both singles and doubles. At the moment, she’s heading to California, where she will spend one month and go without her baby. During the Instagram live, the WTA player asked her followers to suggest some interesting places, restaurants, and things to do in the Los Angeles area.
Can’t wait to see Taylor Townsend back on court. Love her aggressive play and net coverage. I have enjoyed her commentary on the tennis channel but I am looking forward to seeing her on court. You
Taylor Townsend is my favorite commentator on ESPN and tennis channel… she knows the current players, is articulate, and is a credible and knowledgeable communicator. I know she wants to return to the tennis court in singles and doubles and I can’t wait, but I also know she has a job waiting for her at both tennis stations.
