Australian WTA player Destanee Aiava revealed that she wanted to throw herself off a bridge on the night of Easter Sunday, but people that drove by dragged her off the rails.
Aiava, who turned 22 on May 10th, revealed the devastating news in her birthday post on Instagram:
The night of Easter Sunday (17th April) I was going to throw myself off a bridge onto the M1, 3 people drove by, dragged me off the rails and drove me home.
I did not want to make it to my 22nd birthday, but I know my family and friends would be happy to know I’m alive on this day that’s meant to be special.
Sometimes people you come across in life can make you feel that you’re unworthy of being loved, but at the end of the day I’ve learnt – ‘God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.’
Aiava achieved her highest WTA ranking of No.147 in September 2017. The Melbourne-born tennis player has earned a total of $548,745 in career prize money. The last tournament she played was the March 28th – April 3rd ITF event in Canberra, where she reached the quarterfinals as a qualifier.
Suspect she broke up with a boyfriend. He has been pretty prominent on her Instagram. She certainly puts herself out there. But has not really realised the early promise tennis-wise.
