Three and a half months ago Carla Suarez Navarro announced that she was expecting a baby and now the retired tennis star from Spain is revealing that twins are on the way!
In December 2022, Carla Suarez Navarro revealed that she and her partner, professional soccer player Olga Garcia, were expecting their first child, due to arrive at the end of June 2023. The latest Instagram update of the couple shows Carla’s big baby bump and her partner kissing her above the bellybutton. The photo caption reveals that the couple will have double joy, as Carla is pregnant with twins.
“Counting the days to see you and enjoy this new stage together,” wrote the former WTA world No.6.
Carla spoke to the WTA about her family plans late last year:
Olga and I really wanted to be able to expand the family. After my retirement from sports, and both of us still young, we thought it was the ideal time to face a process that fills us with joy and enthusiasm. We are very excited about what we are experiencing and with all the new experiences that we hope to live soon.
A lot has happened in Carla’s life in the last few years. The latest developments are very positive, but her road was tough in earlier years when she was diagnosed with cancer in September 2020. Fortunately, treatments were successful and in April 2021 she announced that she had cured Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Cancer-free, Carla even returned to the WTA Tour a little bit later in 2021 and played Roland Garros, Wimbledon, the US Open, the Tokyo Olympics, and the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. For her determination, she was honored as the 2021 WTA Comeback Player of the Year.
