College players looking to win a national title are getting their chance next week. Universal Tennis has just announced the team selection and brackets for the first-ever Universal Tennis National Invitational Tennis Championship (NIT Championship).

The postseason tournament features 8 women’s and 8 men’s college teams and will take place May 17-20 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

All matches will be aired on Amazon Prime Video, free for Prime members. Universal Tennis, the company behind the UTR Pro Tennis Tour, partnered with Amazon last year and is now showcasing both professional and college tennis to a more global audience.

“We are thrilled to welcome these great teams to Georgia,” said Chase Hodges, VP of Universal Tennis and former 15-time NAIA National Championship Coach. “Sixteen programs will compete for a national championship on Prime Video. Universal Tennis is proud to continue supporting and elevating the college tennis experience with a new world-class event.”

The participating women’s teams are TCU, Colorado, Stetson, Appalachian State, Wyoming, CSUN, Cal Poly, and UC San Diego. The men’s teams are Vanderbilt, Denver, Liberty, UC Davis, Army West Point, The Citadel, UC San Diego, and Reinhard.

Each team’s UTR Power 6 ranking was among the top criteria for consideration. Power 6 is calculated by adding up the individual verified UTR Ratings of the six highest, most reliably-rated players on a college team to two decimals.

Universal Tennis created the UTR Rating, the world’s most accurate rating system and the gold-standard rating for college recruiting. It promotes fair and competitive play across the tennis world by rating all players on the same 1.00-16.50 point global scale based on daily match results.
