In a touching post, Kerber shared a photo of herself hugging her daughter, Liana, in front of a cozy fireplace. With her hands forming a heart shape over her stomach and a red heart emoji, she wrote: “Counting down the days for someone special to arrive in our family.”
The comment section was flooded with warm wishes from Kerber’s peers on the WTA Tour. Former French Open champion Ana Ivanovic wrote, “So happy for you! Can’t wait for the arrival!” Other WTA moms, including Belinda Bencic, Caroline Wozniacki, Dominika Cibulkova, Sabine Lisicki, Elena Vesnina, and Urszula Radwanska, also joined in to celebrate the exciting news.
Kerber welcomed her first child, daughter Liana, in February 2023. After taking time to embrace motherhood, Kerber made a return to the tennis court in 2024 for what would become her final season, culminating in a remarkable quarterfinal run at the Paris Olympic Games. There, she battled valiantly in a three-set thriller before bowing out to eventual gold medalist Zheng Qinwen, marking a fitting end to her illustrious career.
With 14 WTA titles, three Grand Slam trophies (Australian Open 2016, US Open 2016, and Wimbledon 2018), and 34 weeks spent as the world No. 1, she has cemented her place among tennis’s all-time greats. Now, as she prepares to welcome her second child, Kerber continues to inspire both on and off the court, proving that it’s possible to excel in multiple roles—athlete, mother, and role model.
